A
founding member of the Ravetap/Robot Music triumvirate (responsible
for many a Hackney Warehouse rave between 2001-2003), Jimmy
Bolus started his DJing career in 1997 playing UK Acid Techno
and "proper moody" drum & bass at house parties
around the country, most notably Nottingham, Southampton
and Northampton under the moniker Dr. Bolus.
Frustrated by the lack of progression in these genres, Jimmy
moved into Electro, Techno and Breaks and is currently pushing
the recently emerged dubstep/tech-step sound - a fusion of
garage beats, electro bleeps and gut-wrenching basslines -
while still enjoying playing out styles that range from robotic
electronica to hard techno.
Along with Roboy Braiken, T.Smilex and Wide, Jimmy appeared
in October's Touch Magazine as part of the "who's who"
in the UK Bass scene and was recently favourably reviewed
in DJ Magazine for his back to back set with Smilex at Crash.
Jimmy is also proud to say that he has played out with people
such as Scape One, Kevin Saunderson, the Detroit Grand Pubahs,
Kansas City Prophets, Debasser, Cutlass Supreme, Ed Dmx, Radioactive
Man,
Jim Masters, Vital Statistics and, of course, the DELTA 9
DJs.
Current residencies include Robot Music (The White Horse,
Brixton) and Bang Face (Public Life, Shoreditch) as well as
ongoing projects with Wide
and DELTA 9.
