EP REVIEW: BYTECON - T-WREX (SATAMILE) - Released 2nd September 2003

The A-side track is called Evacuation Order - a hard synth-electro smasher. If you like your electro futuristic and noisy then this is a track for you. Sounds like the soundtrack to a twisted sci-fi series somewhere between Alien and Dr Who, complete with theme tune and the disturbing shrieks of dying extra terrestrials.

First up on the B-side is without doubt the best track on this record, possibly the best track released on Satamile to date. Robots Ready For Mars begins with a hard industrial electro break and quickly builds to unleash one of the most thunderous synth choruses of this year. Think Decal / Radioactive Man / Debasser but with a distorted gut-wrenching echo of Aphex Twin's Windowlicker and you're there (sort of). Guaranteed to destroy the dancefloor, providing your speakers can take the strain. Essential Bang Face ammunition.

Second up on side-B - Attack of the Clones never quite touches on the quality of Robots… but a solid track nonetheless. Fast electro with some nice chord stabs and a "euro" tinged detour in the middle.

Satamile go from strength-to-strength with this their 14th release and their first from Bytecon, who hails from Brussels.
