 The
EP features an original track from Multiplex plus 9 remixes
from a range of artists including Digitonal, Safety Scissors,
Shitmat and Proem.
'With Hands And Feet' sees Multiplex employ new organic sounds
alongside their trademark lush synths. Strong melodies with
oriental overtones help balance abstract elements.
All compositions in their own right, most of the remixes
don't borrow heavily from the original. Digitonal's is melodic
as you would expect, a dramatic opening draws attention to
the harmonious layered strings. Proem offers us some dreamy,
laid back glitch - it's nice enough but Proem is capable of
better. Decanids hit the spot though with waves of ambience
lapping against a funky glitchy rhythm.
Safety Scissors go for something quirky, with a big bass
sound and unusual melodical structures using a range of synths.
Shitmat gives us two tracks of abstract hardcore; heavily
chopped and cleverly manipulated.
Inspite of some good attempts, none of the remixes better
the original - let's hope there's more excellent solo stuff
on the way from Multiplex.
